Registration is now open!
Kids will discover rare plants and amazing animals in Prospect Park! We will visit the highest point in Prospect Park and kids will learn to make bird calls as they watch thousands of birds return for the great spring migration over our Atlantic flyway. We learn the difference between the snapping turtle, the painted turtle and the invasive red-eared slider. We learn that invasive plants make great snacks, and jumping worms definitely don’t. We use invasive plants to make mason bee homes, musical instruments and some pretty crazy salads. As the weather warms, kids will visit nearby community gardens and plant and bring home both edible and air-cleaning plants..
GRADES: K - 5.
Older kids will have more challenging activities. In order to make sure younger kids do not feel left out or overwhelmed, we recommend kindergarteners sign up with a buddy. Or we can have a quick introduction on Zoom to allow your child to meet us before the first pick-up. We will keep buddies, siblings and similar age groups together. Parents and babysitters also have the option of dropping children off at the park, including pod drop-offs.
TRANSPORTATION:
We pick kids up from schools (PS 321, PS 133, PS 9, PS 282, PS 118, PS 39, St. Ann's, Brooklyn Prospect Charter School). We also pick kids up from school bus stops and walk them to Prospect Park. Parents also have the option of dropping kids off to Prospect Park.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
We follow relevant COVID protocols and have fun outdoors safely. More information on the registration form.
NO HANGRY KIDS
Please pack a full water bottle and 2 or 3 or 4 snacks because they sometimes eat them during lunch.
WHAT TO WEAR
All kids must wear comfortable shoes which allow them to run, hop, climb, skip and moon walk. NO SANDALS. No fancy outfits because they will absolutely destroy them when they jump into that mud or rain puddle. Please dress for easy and comfortable outdoor movement and expect them to get very dirty. We will sometimes be running or walking long distances as we learn about the last forest in Brooklyn, while incorporating social-emotional learning.
TRUST
We find fun and gentle ways to communicate to kids while giving them time and space to express their needs and feelings.

The registration link below is only for the Prospect Park option.
NO CLASSES
We do NOT have classes on half days and when public schools are closed. This includes school holidays, snow days, etc...
WHO WE ARE
We pay our staff a THRIVING wage (25% higher than a living wage), include generous scholarships and hire from the communities we work in. We strive to be economically, racially and LGBTQ diverse. When you sign your child up for our Brooklyn Seeds nature program, you are supporting a community.
SCHOLARSHIPS
We believe in economic, racial and LGBTQ diversity. We offer scholarships on the registration form! We don’t talk about equity. We practice it. If you’re not sure you qualify for a scholarship, please know that we need no explanation. But we ask that you give what you can, when you can. And take what you need when you need it. We are a community.
Important details:
* On days when there is dangerous weather, we will switch to remote, but it’s very unlikely we will go remote at this point. If this does happen, supplies will be delivered to prepare for this possibility. This will include plants, soil, jars and possibly insects.
*Rain is not dangerous. We nature even when there is rain. Kids MUST have long raincoats and rain boots. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the importance of clean water for plant and animal life.
Parents and babysitters have the option of dropping children off at the park, including pods. Maybe your child is being home schooled? Maybe they are coming from a school where we don't offer pickups? Maybe cousins are visiting and they want to do something special together? We offer ONE TIME drop-ins/drop-offs with ONE WEEK'S notice, as long as we do not exceed capacity! Please read below because the registration form will not allow you to do this unless approved by Eman. We maintain small, safe, happy groups of kids.
